had a temporary brain fart:

new skirt!

new skirt!

talk about weather!

it’s an absolute pisser of a day out there — freezing rain coming down hard. Very grim. Perfect day for pottery and then hot chocolate with marshmallows, and then later, roasted chestnuts and hot cider!!!!!!!!!!!
YUM!
good day to rest up for tomorrow: two “viewings” of Frank’s mother at the funeral home, and then on Tuesday, a Catholic mass to get through and a burial out in the weather. Oh boy. The bright spot is that we get to have a nice lunch with everybody ( half the town) at Sam’s (the oldest restaurant in town, and the nicest) afterwards, and the other bright spot: Lu doesn’t have to suffer any more.
Hope everyone’s having a lovely warm snuggly day.

a short trip to town…

just got back from my Support Our Local Bookstore run, came home with the utterly enchanting and fabulous Birdscapes, A thousand Splendid Suns (now out in paper!), and a book called Oil by Upton Sinclair for Frank. We’d seen the movie based on it (Frank’s become a netflicks addict) There Will Be Blood or something, and wanted to see why it was both so compelling and so horrendous. I hated the film — it seemed full of huge gaping holes and way WAY too much ugly, completely over the top violence.
Email group, sorry if you’ve had to read this twice.
: )

a nothing much Monday

tomorrow is WookieRosie’s spay day, 10 AM. Am looking forward to the surgery even though I’ve been a bit sick again lately, and in spite of knowing the pain and discomfort in store for my girl. Has to be done though.
On the me front, the neurology treatment didn’t work  last week, very disappointing, but am not totally giving up yet. At least my regular acupuncturist is doing good things for me — am not as sick as I was. The shoe hurling brightened my week though it has its depresing side, I know. Did y’all get a laugh out of it?
Sorry to be writing such boring nothing stuff, but when you don’t feel well… I’m sure you all know the drill.
Hope all is well with all of you.

bright Wednesday

Frank’s been feeling better and better, in spite of having this stupid cold that everyone’s been passing around and having to wait to hear about bone marrow donors which makes us both a little on edge.
I’ve been feeling better too — did I tell you guys about the neurologist who gave me skull injections last week for the headaches? Am going to see him again this afternoon. Have only had two minor headaches since the injections and those were primarily from this stupid cold. He’s a funny guy. His name is Dr. Reilley so of course I expected someone with an Irish-ish look –maybe a red head with rosacea around the nostrils, some kind of big beefy guy, or one of those black-haired blue eyed types with the wiry frame — you know, all the stereotypes — and was totally off-balanced by the cafe au lait little Latin dance teacher type with shiny black pants and shirt, spiked up black hair, and heavy Latino accent who walked in and started giving me a lecture about aerobic activity and sleep. Too funny. Did an EEG, got the shots, and have felt much better ever since. He also does acupuncture, specifically for combination headaches. What  find!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Off to Curves again this afternoon with my Curves buddy Lisa in spite of the fact that I just found out that organization supports the Republican party!!! Maybe I’ll join the local Y instead — will have to look into it. But hey, we won, so what’s the dif? YAYA so there! I did so much extreme housework the other day I’m still charlyhorsed, but another Curves workout will help.
Did a three hour Raku firing with some new students yesterday and for a blessing everything came out absolutely gorgeous. I did a Snoopy Happy Dance and we all celebrated with hot roasted chestnuts and honeyed tea. Wish I could do a firing for myself today but have had too many appointments lined up with not enough time in between. Tomorrow will be good — will be on my own all day until 3.
Have to go all the way upisland for bone marrow transplant orientation next week, and then on the 16th will go get WRosie spayed, but at least that’s only five miles from the house, and I get to attend the whole surgery. I love surgery.
Busy busy.
Hope you all feel great on this lovely bright sunny winter day!
